Archaeologists uncovered 'vampires' in a Polish cemetery
The remains of a woman found in a 17th-century cemetery in the village of Pien in northern Poland were unearthed by archaeologists from Nicolas Copernicus University. The woman's body was found with a grapevine lock on top of it. The sickle on her leg and neck suggests a belief that the person was a 'vampire' and that these measures were taken to prevent her from 'rising from the grave.
