Eighteen‑year‑old painter Merah Halid el‑Zaanin, who was forced to flee from Beit Hanun to the Rimal neighborhood of Gaza due to Israeli attacks, reflects the suffering of the Palestinian people in her drawings.
Gifted with the ability to paint since childhood, Merah now tries to create under very difficult conditions in a school that has been converted into a shelter.
With art supplies almost nonexistent in Gaza, the young woman nevertheless hangs her works on the walls of the tent where she is staying.
