New Syrian leadership forces conduct training at former Assad stronghold

Forces aligned with Syria's new leadership are conducting training at the former Republican Guard barracks in Damascus, once used by Bashar al-Assad's brother Basil. The site, now under control of the new regime, features military equipment and symbols of the Assad family's legacy.

The barracks, known as the headquarters of Bashar al-Assad's late brother Basil, who died in a car accident in 1994 and was seen as the heir to his father Hafez al-Assad, is considered the "largest military headquarters taken over by the new ruling forces after the liberation of Damascus."
