Passenger opens emergency exit mid-air on Asiana Airlines flight

On Friday, a 33-year-old man was apprehended for reportedly opening the emergency door of an airplane while it was in mid-air, just moments before its scheduled landing in South Korea. The incident took place on a flight that safely landed at Daegu International Airport, located 237 kilometers (147 miles) southeast of the capital, Seoul.

The ministry confirmed that the plane door had been deliberately opened by a passenger while the plane was still in flight. "Police are questioning him jointly with the land and transport ministry over aviation safety laws violations," they said in a statement. "Under these laws, a person who opens a plane door without authorisation is subject to a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison."
