Famed Irish singer Shuhada' Davitt -- formerly known as Sinead O'Connor -- expressed gratitude to Muslims worldwide on Friday for welcoming her conversion to Islam.
"Thank you so much to all my Muslim brothers and sisters who have been so kind as to welcome me to Ummah today on this page," Davitt, formerly a Christian, said on Twitter.
"You can't begin to imagine how much your tenderness means to me."
"Ummah" refers to the worldwide Muslim community.
After announcing on Thursday that she was "proud" to become Muslim, Davitt also posted a video of herself reciting the azan -- the Muslim call to prayer -- and photos of herself in Islamic garb.
"All scripture study leads to Islam," said the 51-year-old singer, whose hits include "Nothing Compares 2U."
