Midibus crash kills 24 in southwest Turkey tourist town

24 people were killed and 10 injured when a midibus carrying Turkish tourists crashed near the southwestern holiday town of Marmaris, a local governor said on Saturday. Women and children were among the casualties.
A midibus veered off a cliff in Turkey's southwestern province of Muğla on Saturday. The midibus was carrying domestic tourists.
The midibus had travelled from the western city of Izmir, the governor told reporters in televised comments.
Safety personnel, fire fighters and teams from the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) were immediately dispatched to the area and the injured were taken to nearby hospitals.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, currently on a visit to China, said he was "extremely pained" by the tragedy and asked local authorities to take measures to ensure that "such tragedies" do not recur.
