Turkey's state-run aid agency completed a project that provides equipment at an autism center for children in Kosovar capital Pristina.
The project called "Equipment Inventory and Sensory Room Installation", carried out in collaboration with the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), was promoted on Tuesday at the center of Kosovo National Autism Association.
Turkey's ambassador to Pristina Kivilcim Kilic, Mayor of Pristina Shpend Ahmeti, Burak Ceran, head of TIKA operations in Kosovo, officials, teaching staff, parents and children attended the event.
Kilic welcomed the project which will improve the living conditions of the children receiving services at the center.
"Our goal is to help through contributions and enable Kosovars, starting with children and young people, to be represented and be part of the society as individuals," said the ambassador.
Mayor Ahmeti said with the joint fund, services will be provided to the children with parents who are not able to pay, or to those who are not accepted into state or public institutions.
The project was carried out as part of the Autism Association's physical infrastructure improvement program.
Currently, some 50 children receive services from 18 therapists at the center.
The center financed with donations through humanitarian aid as well as by parents.
