In Germany, PKK supporters set fire to humanitarian aid collected for earthquake victims in Türkiye. A police spokesman said, "The footage recorded by surveillance cameras is being studied. In the footage, we see how two people removed the Turkish flag and threw it into the fire."
Donations stored on the grounds of a supermarket in Recklinghausen city were set alight on Monday night, the police said in a statement.
German police are looking for PKK-linked suspects who deliberately set fire to a pile of donations collected for victims of the Turkish and Syrian earthquakes.
Video footage showed one of the suspects also setting a Turkish flag on fire, which was extinguished in two hours by 40 firefighters.
The police appealed for witnesses and asked anyone with information to contact them and assist in the investigation.
All of the aid materials collected in the market were reduced to ashes.
Hundreds of people have been mobilized in Germany to raise funds and collect relief supplies to help the victims of the major earthquakes that hit Türkiye on Feb. 6.
